About Brittany
Hello, my name is Brittany. I am the Owner/Founder of Gourmet Sweetsations! Ever since I was a young girl, I have always had a strong inclination regarding cooking and really everything that has to do with culinary. I was always in the kitchen with my parents who took me under their wing showing me all the family secret recipes. When I wasn't in the kitchen, I was aiding and learning from my father with his highly successful catering events and business practices. Long story short these 2 are my biggest inspirations and aided me in finding my passion in life at a young age.
I studied at the Art Institutes of Charlotte majoring in Culinary Arts and Business Management. While there I stood out from my peers by catching on very fast, with high determination and a high work ethic, soon catching the attention of my professor, a reputable chef. He chose to take me under his wing to be his assistant in catering events showing me a different side of catering this time including high end baking and pastry. He then proceeded to offer me a job in an upscale restaurant to learn how a structured brick and mortar operates on an elite level.
After school I moved to Hickory, NC with my husband (Markese). Who I share 2 beautiful daughters (Brielle & Alora) also a handsome Fur baby (Mateo). While in Hickory I soon realized the shortage of upscale restaurants compared to the Charlotte area, I then decided to take time away from the kitchen and be a stay-at-home mother. With the change in dynamics, I had a lot of free time and caught myself back in kitchen but this time baking more often looking to perfect the ideal cookie. Needing someone other than myself and my husband taste testing. I asked him to take the cookies to the Oral Surgery office in which he works to have his coworkers and boss critique them in which I received the most positive reviews and demands of more, right then Gourmet Sweetsations was born. Now after many sales later we are so blessed and grateful to be 2024 contestants in the biggest dessert competition in America "Dessert Wars" and most of all be able to give you the sweetest sensation what we call in my household a sweetsation.
